Even with careful sealing and thin-coat technique, cardboard remains a more fragile, moisture-sensitive material than wood, canvas, or most other painting surfaces — it's well suited to craft projects, temporary displays, and costumes, but isn't a substitute for a more durable substrate on anything meant to last indefinitely or withstand real handling over time.
